The original keeper’s cottage had been poorly extended over a number of years and was generally in poor condition.
The scheme encompassed the demolition of the failing structures, the restoration of the old mill house and the addition of a large two storey cross laminated ply structure extension supported off piled foundations. The structure was externally insulated and finished with charred larch imported from Japan. Composite purpose designed and fabricated aluminium and timber windows complemented the design.
Ground source heating, solar thermal and filtrated borehole technology provided the properties services. A new timber framed boatshed clad in shingles built over a new piled and steel framed boat dock completed the project.
